Hallo everybody. Anybody can tell me how do these speakers sound? 400$ is it too much for a pair in mint condition?

forums Hi. The Altec model 419-8B 12 inch BIFLEX loudspeaker was an early 70's model "full-range" driver with high efficiency designed cone, and had an aluminum dome. The 15 inch version , model 420 A/B was utilyzed in the Altec model 879A "Santana". It was a floor model home speaker with a "direct radiator" tweeter. (two-way).
forums If those 419-8B full ranges are really in "mint" like new condition...... forums YES they are worth $400.00! These would be great in a two-way Altec system!

I see these very rarely. I bought a pair new in 1972. They were my intro to Altec speakers. Wish I still had them! Not going to tell you what happened to them.
Anyway, I would want to pay less, but for a mint condition rare speaker, I suppose 400 is ok.
I think they would work great in a tractrix horn up to 2khz. Then a 1" compression driver above that.
